Hi Kids,
First, I think 30 days are up on the 21st, right Christina???? We will do all three WODs again that week to see if we made any progress in regards to physical performance.
Has anyone noticed any changes in their physique? Anybody losing weight or inches? I am NOT losing anything but my performance did improve (until I got sick). I ran ten miles on Saturday and seriously could've gone at least five more. I felt AWESOME.
Yes, I fell off the wagon for about 4 days and many meals. Today I am back. Jeromy, I made the breakfast mash you mentioned and it is DELICIOUS!
Here's how I made it:
Olive oil
2 whole eggs
2 egg whites
1/2 white onion
Some frozen sweet potato fries (I thawed them out in the microwave & cut them up)
Some cut up ham
Tabasco and pepper for flavor
-Sautee onions in olive oil, add eggs and scramble them, add ham, add sweet potatoes = done!!!!!!!
This is for athletes and is a great Post WOD meal also. More recipes please........

Oh, NO I didn't eat it all at once. I'm eating it all week!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Harj. I have been eating it pretty much every post w/o meal. I either use some baked sweet potatoes or the fries, 3 eggs, a veggie, olive oil, and ham. I have been putting it all in the pan and then covering it, frittata style.
ReplyDeleteI haven't lost any lbs either but I can't say I've been perfect on the diet. I do feel better tho.
I've also been doing bananas, slathered with almond butter and a little honey....good.
I'm in for the 60day program. Mainly because I need more time to stay more on track. I feel good, until the day after the cheat day. I don't thimk the weight has changed. I will not step on a scale until the re-test at the end of 60days. I need to tighten the reins and stay more commited. When on the Paleo I feel real good.
ReplyDeleteI already unloaded on Harj, no I haven't lost any weight!! Have had some good WOD's, feel pretty good, except for that allergy time of year. Ken, I agree that I'm in for the 60 days to have a better evaluation. Did some reading on the CrossFit message board. Interesting to read. I've been eating a lot of Lara bars. They still have a high sugar content and I'm going to try limiting them. I know I can go overboard on the fat. Oh, and the cravings are less.
ReplyDeleteJeromy, that breakfast sounds awesome, will give it a try. Check out the message board too. People comment every day. It might give you an idea on tweaking "your" paleo. I tried coconut milk in my coffee today. It was o.k.
So I just read another chapter in the Paleo Diet book. Almonds are a bad choice. Walnuts and macadamia nuts are better. No more than 4oz of nuts and no more than 2oz of dried fruit/day to lose weight. Also, no more than 6 eggs/week and pick the ones with Omega-3. FYI, green beans are a legume!! I bought a ton of them to be my veggie of the week. Lame.
ReplyDeleteChristina, Sheila unloaded on me too. She's pissed that she's not losing any weight either. Robin lost like 5lbs, her husband lost a ton of weight...... WTF? I think I'm eating more calories than I ever have. I never ate much to start with.
Keep at it, kids. Only good can come of eating like a frickin' caveman.
So I've been reading another paleo challenge blog to help with my frustrations!! www.urbangetsdiesel.com is very informative. Melissa Byers blog. She is running a STRICT paleo challenge. It could send you to the corner sucking your thumb!!! But, some good incentive. What I learned, like what Harj mentioned, is that nuts should be limited if weight loss is an issue. Nuts for me can be a bit addicting and end up in every meal. I'm going to try her exact diet for this week and compare. I sent this to Sheila too, but for anyone else who's interested here goes. She eats the same thing every morning, and the only meal she measures. Her meals are timed every day too. Her Post Wod meal is the same every day too. Check it out;
ReplyDelete8:30 Breakfast; 6 oz turkey deli meat, 2 Tbsp almond butter. 7 gr fish oil
12:00 Protein. Veges OR mashed sweet potatoes sprinkled with cinnamon
4:00 POST WOD MEAL 2 hard boiled eggs
6:00 Protein. Steamed vegetables with a handful of nuts OR coconut milk ( yes to drink) with carrots.
Well, not too complicated but rigid. Breakfast and post wod meals the same every day, the only thing to think about is the variety of protein at lunch and dinner. I ate this way over the weekend. I was definitely full. I'll give this way of paleo a try and keep you posted.
Good luck people!!
P.S. made the power protein pizza last night and Frank loved it!!! It's on the Catalyst menu site ( chicken is the crust, no cheese ) Easy for lunch left-overs too!!
Peach scrambled eggs was NOT a hit with the boys.
I'll try that next week when I'm done eating everything I bought for this week. That's a lot of eggs in a week! What can I eat instead of fish oil? Can I just take the pills? Most of our Post WODs are at 6 or 7pm so maybe move "dinner" to 3:00 or 4:00 instead of 6? I can't wait to eat mashed sweet potatoes with cinnamon! Yay!
ReplyDeleteIn light of your findings about walnuts vs almonds Harj. Just picked up a jar of walnut butter at Whole Foods ( $10.99 ). I'll try this with the turkey in a.m. Any nut butter is yummy!!!!
